The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is arguably the most important vehicle on Kenyan roads. From NGO fleets in Turkana to family safaris in the Mara, its combination of go-anywhere capability, passenger comfort and Toyota reliability makes it the reference point against which every other SUV in Kenya is judged.

Japanese-market Prados come in two key grades: the TX, a well-equipped mid-grade, and the TZ-G, the fully loaded flagship. Both are available with the 2.8-litre diesel (1GD-FTV) or the 2.7-litre petrol, and the diesel is strongly preferred in Kenya for torque, fuel economy and durability on long drives. Seven-seat versions are the most popular.
