The Toyota Harrier occupies a unique sweet spot in the Kenyan market: premium build quality and refinement that rivals a Lexus RX, at a Toyota price. The current fourth-generation Harrier (2020 onward) shares its TNGA-K platform with the RAV4 but feels more upmarket, with better interior materials, a quieter cabin and sleeker design.

There are two engine choices. The 2.0-litre petrol (171 hp) is the cheaper option, and the 2.5-litre hybrid (218 hp system output) is the one most Kenyan buyers choose, because its fuel economy of roughly 18–22 km/l in city traffic is about double that of a comparable petrol SUV. The hybrid is available with E-Four electric AWD. Grades run from S and G up to Z, with the Z Leather Package the most complete, and Nightshade editions add black styling.
