How long does it take to import a car from Japan to Kenya?
Six to ten weeks from auction purchase to Nairobi delivery: auction processing 1–2 weeks, sea freight to Mombasa 3–5 weeks, KRA clearance and inland transport 1–3 weeks.
Does Tuminion handle KRA clearance at Mombasa?
Yes. Our clearing agents handle all KRA documentation, including IDF filing, customs valuation, duty payment, KEBS inspection and port release. You do not need to visit the port.
How much does it cost to import a car to Kenya?
Two parts: the CIF Mombasa price (vehicle, inspection and sea freight), which we publish for every car, and KRA import duties, which we quote per vehicle because KRA applies them to its own valuation of the make, model and year, not to the price you paid.
Can I get a car inspected before it ships?
Most do. About 90% of our cars come with their original Japan auction sheet showing the verified mileage and condition grades (dealership cars have no sheet but come with a warranty), and our pre-shipment inspection covers the mechanical condition, bodywork and interior before the vehicle leaves Japan.
