Common Questions
City Car — FAQ
What is the best fuel-efficient car to import to Kenya?
The Honda Fit e:HEV and Toyota Aqua consistently deliver 20+ km/L in Kenyan conditions. Both have proven hybrid battery reliability. For a slightly larger option, the Honda Vezel e:HEV manages 18–22 km/L while being more suitable for occasional upcountry trips.
Are Japanese kei cars (660cc) allowed in Kenya?
Kei cars can be imported but face practical challenges: parts and service networks in Kenya are limited, and the 660cc engine is underpowered for Kenyan highway conditions. Most buyers step up to a 1000–1500cc small car for better everyday usability.
What is the cheapest fuel-efficient car I can import?
A 2018–2019 Toyota Aqua or Honda Fit Hybrid is usually the entry point for hybrid ownership in the direct-import market. Check the live stock above for current CIF Mombasa prices; KRA duty is assessed separately on KRA's valuation, so we quote it per vehicle.
