Under KES 3 million is Kenya's entry point for direct Japanese imports — the budget where quality and choice start to open up. Expect predominantly compact sedans, kei-class SUVs, and 5–6 year-old family hatchbacks with real service history. This is the range where a well-picked Vezel Hybrid, Honda Fit, or Suzuki Swift Sport can outlast anything in the local used market for the same money.
Budget for KRA duty on top of the CIF figure. It is assessed on KRA's CRSP valuation for the model and year — not on what you paid — and small engines sit in the lowest excise band, which is what makes this tier affordable. We quote duty per vehicle.

Common Questions
Under KSh 3M — FAQ
What is the cheapest car to import from Japan to Kenya?
Small hatchbacks and hybrids are the cheapest: the Toyota Aqua, Honda Fit, Suzuki Swift and Mazda Demio. Check the live stock above for current CIF Mombasa prices. KRA duty is assessed separately on KRA's valuation and engine size, so we quote it per car, and small engines sit in the lowest excise band.
What is the best Japanese car to import for under KES 3 million?
The Honda Vezel Hybrid, Toyota Aqua, Mazda Demio, and Suzuki Swift Sport consistently deliver the best value at this budget. For an SUV, a 2018–2019 Honda Vezel or Nissan Note e-Power gives you hybrid economy in the KES 2.4–2.9M CIF range. KRA duty is assessed on KRA's CRSP for the model and year, not on CIF, and is quoted per vehicle.
Can I import an SUV for under KES 3 million CIF?
Yes — but not a large one. Compact crossover SUVs like the Honda Vezel, Toyota Rush, Suzuki Escudo, and Mazda CX-3 sit in this budget. Full-size 7-seat SUVs (Prado, Alphard, Elgrand) start above KES 3M CIF.
How much KRA duty will I pay on a KES 2.5 million CIF vehicle in Kenya?
It depends on the model, not the price. KRA charges import duty, excise, VAT, IDF and RDL on its own CRSP valuation for that make, model and year, depreciated for age, with excise set by engine size and fuel type. Two cars at the same CIF price can attract very different duty, and the schedule is revised without notice, so we quote the exact figure per vehicle rather than publishing an estimate.
Are these cars all auction-verified?
Mostly yes. About 90% of our cars come with the original Japanese auction inspection sheet, which confirms mileage and year. The rest are dealership cars, which have no auction sheet but come with a warranty instead.
